Miss Peregrine ‘ s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. And a strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children who once lived here—one of whom was his own grandfather— were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a desolate island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

I had heard so much hype about Random Riggs and his novel written around these old creepy photographs that I had to at least flip through this book. Once I flipped, I had to purchase and read. It looked so interesting!!

And it was!

I really did expect it to be a lot scarier than it was. Im sure that if you’re researching this book you have probably already heard this a million times. I had imagined kind of a odd creepy horror book, which it was not. There are only really 1 or 2 scary parts and everything else is suspense and mystery. I think the pictures lead you to believe that the story will be scary…but the story itself makes the pictures less creepy with a little bit of explaining.

This book was hard to put down! I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters and their special gifts. I can’t wait to read hollow city to find out more…I can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out…and guys…it’s going to be made into a movie…and I really can’t wait to see what Tim Burton brings to the story!!
