Scaredy Squirrel goes camping by Mèlanie Watt

Scaredy Squirrel is not too comfortable with the idea of camping … unless it’s on his couch! There will be no mosquitoes, skunks or zippers to worry about when he watches a show about the joys of camping on his brand-new TV. But first Scaredy must find an electrical outlet, and that means going into the woods! Will the nutty worrywart’s plans prepare him for the great outdoors, or will his adventure end up as a scary story told around the campfire?

I gave this book a *9/10*

What an excellent read! The intro warning to this book had me guessing until I got a few pages in. I just couldn’t put it together right away! Make sure ur zippers are done up everyone!

We all know someone who thinks just like scaredy squirrel. They avoid the big bad wilderness and prefer the comforts and predictability of home! I had fun imagining them doing all of the things that scaredy squirrel does. 😉

I love that we learn the survival supplies before we read what the survival supplies are for. Once again…I just couldn’t put it together! What would scaredy squirrel need a bag of cement for?!?

The Rubber Boot Camp and Fitness training charts give excellent segways into children creating their own warm up routine and obstacle course!! The outdoor conditions chart gives us a chance to discuss weather and maybe make our own charts! I just couldn’t help but think up ideas for a classroom setting!

Not only is this story a excellent learning tool, but it captures the fun, magical essence of camping! By the end of the book I was just itching to run off on my own camping trip!

If you love science, nature, or list making…check out this book!! Read it to prepare for your own camping trip!! This book is worth the read 😘
