She’s looking for the perfect man. He’s looking for the perfect victim.
Sydney Shaw, like every single woman in New York, has terrible luck with dating. She’s seen it men who lie in their dating profile, men who stick her with the dinner bill, and worst of all, men who can’t shut up about their mothers. But finally, she hits the jackpot.
Her new boyfriend is utterly perfect. He’s charming, handsome, and works as a doctor at a local hospital. Sydney is swept off her feet.
Then the brutal murder of a young woman―the latest in a string of deaths across the coast―confounds police. The primary suspect? A mystery man who dates his victims before he kills them.
Sydney should feel safe. After all, she is dating the guy of her dreams. But she can’t shake her own suspicions that the perfect man may not be as perfect as he seems. Because someone is watching her every move, and if she doesn’t get to the truth, she’ll be the killer’s next victim…
Freida McFadden books are either a hit or a miss. There’s no telling what direction it’ll go. It usually depends on the ending, in my opinion. One thing about me is I will always read the Freida Mcfadden book. Sometimes it’s a flop… but most times, you’ll be left thinking about the story for days after you’ve finished.
This is one that I thought about for days. On goodreads, I believe I rated it 5 stars, but I recently had to go back in and bump it down to 4(should actually be 4.5…c’mon goodreads, make half stars a thing!). I thoroughly enjoyed this story, but at times, it seemed a tad slow (almost not even worth mentioning). The main character was also kind of dense, in my opinion. There’s a killer on the loose, and it might be a doctor who the victim just happened to be dating? No worries, go on that date with the doctor you just met in the street. Can’t go passing up perfectly good potential boyfriends, am I right?
Even with the questionable decision-making skills of the main character, this is what I want in a thriller. I thought I knew exactly what was happening, and I was sure I knew who the killer was. I narrowed it down to 3 possibilities. Let me tell you, I was so shook when I found out I was way off. And then there was another little twisty twist after we found out who the killer was!!
Freida, you didn’t dissapoint. I can’t wait to read your upcoming book, The Crash.
Have you read the Boyfriend yet?
